GriefShare
at GriefShare!
GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone.
GriefShare seminars and support groups are led by people who understand what you are going through and want to help. You’ll gain access to valuable GriefShare resources to help you recover from your loss and look forward to rebuilding your life.
How GriefShare Works
It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel.
This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before.
GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:
Video Seminar With Experts
Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting-to-watch television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments and on-location video.
Support Group Discussions With Focus
After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.
Workbook-Based Personal Study And Reflection
During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.
When To Join A GriefShare Group
You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin. You will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next 13-week cycle and view any of the videos you have not seen.
Who Should Come....Who Should Not
GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a loved one. Many other life situations bring deep grief, such as separation and divorce, a loved one who is dying, estrangement, loss of a loved one to a cult, loss of custody of a child through divorce and more. If you are struggling with a loss not due to a death, GriefShare is not designed to meet your grief needs for healing. We encourage you to ask your pastor or a church leader for guidance in finding a support group or counselor.

Surviving the Holidays to be held on November 8 at 6pm until 8:30 light meal served
GriefShare is a grief recovery program based on the promises of healing and comfort offered in God's Word. It offers a safe place to process the deep hurt of loss and is open to anyone who has experienced the death of a family member, friend or loved one.
The full 13-week program features personal stories from people who have experienced loss, as well as expert insights on topics important to grief recovery. Each meeting revolves around three main activities: a lesson on DVD providing testimonies and biblical perspectives from those who have walked through loss, a workbook where participants can write down reflections on their journey and on the Scriptures we review, and a small-group where they can discuss the DVD content and their workbooks.
The purpose of the course is to introduce the class members not to a program or a formula or an insightful counselor, but to the person of Jesus Christ, who we believe is the only lasting source of comfort (2 Corinthians 1:4-5), and to His Word, which is our sole authority, conscience and guide (Joshua 1:8).
It is our hope that those participating in GriefShare will avail themselves of the community the class offers, interacting with others who have experienced a recent loss, learning about others' experiences, and sharing their own. We want to help those in grief avoid the isolation of toughing it out or minimizing their own pain in an effort to cope with their circumstances. Circumstances the world around them can seem ill-equipped to help them through.
Among the session titles: "The Uniqueness of Grief", "When Your Spouse Dies", "Heaven" and "Living with Grief".
