Young Adults and College Ministry
The College Ministry is comprised of folks 18-25(ish). Our goals are to grow in the knowledge of love and God, figure out how to live out the teachings of Jesus in our world today, to serve humanity, and to grow together as a church family. Take your time reading the Bible: by Billy Graham
I suspect many people can identify with you when you say - the Bible is a massive book, and it's hard to make it part of our daily lives. But don't let that discourage you or keep you away from the blessings God has for you in its pages. Remember: The Bible is God's Word, and He gave it to us because He wants us to know Him and do His will.
How can you make the Bible part of your life? First, read it regularly. If you received a letter from someone you deeply loved, would you refuse to look at it because you thought it was too long? I doubt it. Instead, you'd open it and start reading -- even if you only read a few paragraphs at a time. The same is true with the Bible. Begin with one of the Gospels in the New Testament (I often suggest John), and take a few minutes each day to read it a few paragraphs at a time.
Second, read the Bible alertly. Ask questions as you read: What is happening in this passage? What does it tell us about Jesus, or God, or how we should live? Try to imagine what it must have been like to have been there and witness what was taking place.
Third, read the Bible prayerfully. What is God teaching you through this passage? Even if this isn't clear at first, ask God to use His Word to shape your life. Remember: "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path" (Psalm 119:105).
